Limberg Mining Company (Pty) Ltd: Logistics Service Providers
You are hereby invited to submit a proposal for Logistics Services for Limberg Mining Company (Pty) Ltd (“LMC”). Please kindly indicate to us whether your company will submit a proposal by returning the form attached under Annexure A, via email by 28 January 2022 before 12h00.
1. Introduction
LMC owns a chrome mine in the Thabazimbi Magisterial district in the Limpopo province.
LMC requires the services of an experienced and professional logistics company to assist with the trucking of ore fines via road transport from the mining site next to the R510 between Northam and Thabazimbi to a delivery point in the Rustenburg Northwest area roughly 115km from the mine.
2. Key Information
- Timing:
The service is expected to commence in February 2022 and the material will be transported continuously until completion over an expected 6-month period. - Detail of material:
The material (typically -1mm) will be loaded on site by LMC onto the trucks with a Front-End Loader and actual quantity will be determined by LMC’s weighbridge. The quantum for this tender is ± 75 000t which is required to be transported continuously at a rate of between 12500t per month over a 6 month period. The transport rate will be limited by loading and stockpile capacity at delivery point. - Loading and offloading:
Loading will take place from 06h00 until 22h00 from Monday to Friday. The material will be offloaded on a mine where the successful tenderer will be subject to the MH&SA as implemented by the receiving company. All trucks will be issued with a PDS unit when entering the site. Offloading can take place on a 24-hour basis. - General:
a. The contractor must maintain a safety file as is the standard for all contractors working at Limberg Mining Company and work according to applicable legislation and site SOP’s.
b. Trucks will be inspected in a waiting area prior to access to site. If the outcome of the inspection is positive, a driver with the necessary valid qualifications (license, Covid screening, medical and site induction) can proceed to the loading area. It is highly recommended to provide for shuttle drivers to take the trucks into the site as it eliminates the need to have all drivers do full medical and induction.
c. All Contractor employees must be able to communicate in English and must have acceptable literacy skills (reading and writing) to allow induction and to complete the required forms and make the required written recordings in registers and on forms.
