Chromtech Holdings and Limberg Mining Company equip schools with new computer labs
In a visionary initiative, Chromtech Holdings, along with its subsidiary Limberg Mining Company, has extended its support to three local high schools in the communities they serve: Johane Mokolobetsi Secondary School, Mabogopedi High School, and Modise Secondary School.
Through their non-profit social investment company, Titali, they have provided extensive technological resources to these institutions, transforming traditional classrooms into advanced digital learning centres.
Empowering minds with tech
With three fully equipped computer rooms, 3 200 students now have access to state-of-the-art technology, bringing them closer to a future where digital skills are essential. Each computer room is designed with a Zero Client system, featuring 40 workstations that are fully suited to an educational environment and include classroom management software. These dedicated and secure labs have been modernised to serve as effective IT learning centres, providing students with an unprecedented opportunity to embrace digital education.
Teachers at all three schools report that students have embraced this initiative with enthusiasm, eager to explore a world of knowledge that was previously out of reach. The computer labs have become hubs for learning and innovation, giving students a taste of the possibilities that technology can offer for their future.
Learning for tomorrow
“Technology is the way to the future,” said one head teacher. “This partnership with Chromtech and Limberg Mine opens doors to countless possibilities for our learners. We hope they will see a picture of what they can become.”
Jono Gay, CEO of Chromtech Holdings and Limberg Mining Company, emphasises the importance of preparing students for a tech-driven world: “In today’s world, computer literacy is not just a skill—it’s a gateway to endless opportunities. By equipping students with these tools, we’re not only enhancing their education but also planting seeds for a future where they can thrive in the tech-driven world of tomorrow. Our commitment is to empower young minds to envision and reach their potential.”
Through this initiative, teachers are introducing new skills such as coding, research, and online communication into their curriculum. These capabilities are designed to give students an edge, preparing them not only for exams but also for a world that increasingly values technological proficiency.
Building community futures
This project is about more than just education; it’s a social investment aimed at uplifting communities. By providing these resources, Chromtech and Limberg Min are contributing to a brighter, more digitally literate future, inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and aim higher. The collaboration also includes satellite connectivity and infrastructure upgrades, further supporting students in developing leadership skills and accessing digital resources.
Over the past five years, Chromtech has invested more than R10 million in various educational initiatives, including building four school libraries to support literacy and comprehension, along with school leadership programmes and further education initiatives. This ongoing commitment to education reinforces Chromtech’s and Limberg’s dedication to sustainable community development.
Aligned with Limberg Mining Company’s Social and Labour Plan (SLP) and Titali’s community development mandate, this initiative ensures that support reaches the immediate communities around Chromtech Holdings’ and Limberg Mining Companys’ operations, enhancing the lives of students and preparing them for meaningful roles in a technology-driven society.
