Major pass rate achieved by AET learners
We recently celebrated a significant milestone in the Smashblock community, thanks to the mine’s Adult Education Training (AET) initiative, which attracted 50 candidates from the area. This program has been instrumental in providing essential skills and knowledge to the community.
Samson Baloyi, Director of Rivoningo Consultancy, the company behind the training, proudly announced that most participants successfully completed their first English module, with some achieving a perfect score of 100%.
The presentation, attended by Chairman and CEO of ChromTech, Craig Bennett, and Jono Gay, along with other senior members of Limberg Mine, highlighted the program’s focus on literacy, enhancing reading and writing abilities. These skills are opening doors to new opportunities for the learners.
Samson Baloyi added, “Attendance was about 90% for the duration of the program. These learners are not being paid for attending, but it is through their commitment and need to better themselves. This high attendance, achieving more than a 98% pass rate with around 50 learners, is huge in the ABET program.”
Addressing the learners, Craig Bennett said, “Education is a tool which you must use to your best advantage. Never stop educating yourself and improving yourself. Let this just be the beginning. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide this course.”
The success of this initial module showcases the dedication and enthusiasm of the learners. Jono Gay added, “We eagerly anticipate your continued progress in the upcoming modules. Congratulations to all the learners!”
Final results:
- 11 candidates obtained 100% or Merit.
- 12 candidates obtained 80% or Higher Credit.
- 23 candidates obtained a 70% Credit.
- 12 candidates received 34% (minimum pass is 40%), so they received Ungraded or Fail.
- 2 candidates were absent and didn’t write the examination.
The dedication and hard work of the learners in the Smashblock community are truly commendable. We look forward to seeing more achievements in the future as they continue their educational journey.
