Kedibone achieves top honours in her engineering programme
In a remarkable affirmation of talent and hard work, Kedibone Kupa has emerged as the standout apprentice in Limberg Mine’s prestigious engineering programme, securing the top prize for her first-year achievements.
Celebrated for her exceptional performance, Kedibone was honoured with both a trophy and certificate at the Apprentice Training Institute (ATI) in Johannesburg in February.
Kedibone, who draws inspiration from the baobab logo of ATI, likens herself to a seed, nourished by the supportive environment provided by both the Institute and Limberg Mine – her sun and sustenance. Her growth and development to qualified fitter is a testament to the nurturing potential of this partnership.
The sentiment of Kedibone’s exceptional potential is echoed by her supervisor, who praised her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment, traits that distinguished her as an obvious choice for the award. Sean Jones, CEO of ATI, praised Kedibone’s ability and dedication: “From the onset of her apprenticeship, Kedibone’s passion for her craft has been evident. In a world that increasingly values hands-on skills, her future shines bright, both within South Africa and on the global stage.”
ChromTech’s HR head Sello Mashabele, responsible for the programme at LMC, highlighted that while the apprenticeship is aligned with the company’s Social Labour Plan, its core intent is to empower the communities that Limberg Mine operates in.
“We take immense pride in all our apprentices, but it’s Kedibone who has truly exemplified the success of our programme,” he stated.
Kedibone’s achievement is not just a personal victory but a beacon of inspiration, signalling the boundless possibilities that await those who are driven by passion and guided by excellence.
