LMC Library Initiative: Empowering aspiring minds to dream big
Limberg Mining Company (LMC) is on a transformative journey with a profound mission to make a positive impact on young people and the nearby communities it serves, reshaping the way it conducts business in the process.
In a noteworthy endeavour, LMC has recently taken a significant step by establishing libraries at Chrome Mine Primary in Smashblock and Modise Commercial Secondary in Mantserre.
This active involvement in local schools underscores LMC’s deep-rooted commitment to fostering positive change within the realm of local education.
The genesis of this project is rooted in research revealing disparities in reading comprehension skills among children in the region.
In response, ChromTech, LMC’s parent company, established an education fund aimed at assisting schools in improving the learning experience for students and the professional development of educators.
LMC, through an NGO, collaborated closely with the Department of Education to ensure that the reading materials provided to the schools seamlessly align with the existing curriculum.
ChromTech’s CEO, Jono Gay, passionately emphasises the company’s belief in the universal right to a quality education. He underscores the company’s grassroots approach, designed not only to equip learners with the tools they need to reach their academic potential, but also to empower them to make positive contributions to the betterment of their communities.
In LMC’s vision of the future, young minds not only excel academically, but also actively engage in efforts to enhance their surrounding world.
LMC is actively working toward this vision by forging strong partnerships with schools and investing in the neighbouring communities.
Through projects like this, LMC is inspiring young learners to dream big by providing them with the support to turn dreams into reality.
